Asperger's syndrome is one of several autism spectrum disorders characterized by difficulties in social interaction and by restricted and stereotyped interests and activities, often accompanied by high intelligence. Autism and developmental aphasia may share many characteristics with Asperger's syndrome.
Summer Camp 2011
University of Washington Autism Center
For 6 to 12 year olds with
Asperger's Disorder and
related disabilities.
Two 2-week camp sessions will
be offered:
Session 1:
Monday, June 20 - Thursday June 23 and
Monday, June 27 - Thursday, June 30
from 9:00am - 2:30pm daily
Session 2:
Tuesday, July 5 - Friday, July 8 and
Monday, July 11 - Thursday, July 14
from 9:00am - 2:30pm daily
Enrollment is limited so that we
may offer an individualized learning
experience for each child. Screening
interviews will be conducted prior to
enrollment to ensure that our summer
camp will meet children’s needs.
Campers will have the opportunity
to develop friendships and learn
important social interaction skills,
such as:
choosing topics of conversation
understanding the feelings and
perspectives of others
knowing how their behaviors
impact others
using and interpreting nonverbal
behaviors
Camp will provide fun activities and
field trips around the Seattle area
that include hiking, bowling, and
swimming.

Light up the Puget Sound area in blue April 1 and 2.
This year, we are working hard to have businesses and organizations throughout the Puget Sound LIGHT IT UP BLUE! On April 1st and 2nd, businesses that are participate will light up their location in blue to help raise autism awareness!
Participation is simple - you simply can fill out our Puget Sound Light It Up Blue form and send it to our Pacific Northwest Office! We'd love to share your commitment with everyone and say thank you for helping us spread the word!
